Bingo Pinball

I have always wondered just how many Bingos were built and have hoped the serial numbers might help tell me`

But I am not so sure, I know Joe has looked at these for years and hasn’t seen anything obvious either, smile`

I like Keith’s thinking that they might also tell us a little about Bally, about things like the numbers of builds, factories, shifts - etc`

One day Dennis mentioned that they might also help us pin down dates in history, when the law requirements changed- up - etc`

Dec 2021 - I walked through the table below and a few odd things immediately pop out`…like Bally Continental`

But most notable are odd prefix letters from Jeffery, BryanC, and Chris Dade`….and Dennis has a few also`

Most notable is that there are several odd Bingos from the first three guys there`

We might get lucky and learn something here`…I wonder if Variety can help decode things for us`

Dec 2021 – OK, I added a bunch of notes to this table to help explain my observations`

OK, dumb, but I never asked Chris about those (2) Bally Beauty serials number`

Beach Club has (2) different prefixes “A” and “B” – The “B’s” are from playfields`

Is there a connection to the games sent to The Netherlands – machines like Chris shares?

Variety with prefixes “V” , “A” , “B” – Yes, check out the # from Chris Dade

The IPDB has (2) with a “B” prefix`- both lower cabinet`

OK, here we get a great clue as to the games Chris lists – see detail below`

Some of the USA machines are “B” prefix on the playfield`

Mystery here, this “A” is on the playfield`

As to Jeff’s odd numbers, I don’t have a clue`

This one is hard to judge, we don’t have any great photos`

Dec 2021 – As you see, based upon my walk through this table`…I think there is something to all of these #’s

I think the prefixes are not so random after all, that maybe Keith’s odd feeling about Bally might be true`

It kind of looks like they used these prefixes to help control the builds, like there were definitely plans for some

of the machines verses general sales. It’s my guess that Bally had separate builds/orders for some areas`

Europe and some States…and used different prefixes, to track those machines during production`

I will come back to this later, now that I have something tangible to chase`

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, now back to “How many Bingos” were there`…So, the highest Bally serial numbers listed here are`

Bally Beauty 5846, Beach Club 8676, Beach Time 6761, Big Show 7476, Big Time 9944, Broadway 7416

Gayety 7641, Key West 7254, Lotta Fun 6028, Miami Beach 7275, Miss America 5266, Night Club 5542

Palm Springs 5511, Show Time 6887, Sun Valley 8716

So, let’s assume that Bally made at least 5000 of each Bingo and more likely 10,000`…with 7500 being a solid guess`

Those names listed are Bally games from 1952-to-1959 and they made 36 Bingos during this period. United made 25

during the same timeframe and let’s go ahead and say that they sold half-as-many machines as Bally

So, some quick math (36 x 7500) + (25 x 3750) = 363,750 - Which you divide by 500 cities for 728 per U.S. city`

1 for every 728 bars, taverns, clubs, bowling alleys  -or-  2 for every 364 bars, taverns, clubs, bowling alleys

-or-

4 for every 182 bars, taverns, clubs, bowling alleys there are in each large City

Yes, there were 10s-of-1000s of these things and they were everywhere`
