~ Bingo Pinball Trivia: Bally Patent Notice Cards ~

These patent cards in the Bally backbox, like this one out of a Palm Beach, are lists of various modules and

technology that Don Hooker and his team used but didn’t design.

Besides that, it’s also interesting to note that most everyone of them has the description “gaming apparatus” in their title`

This was a “game industry” and for the most part, these guys learned from the same playbook. Based upon what I have seen in

my patent searches, the engineers working in the Chicago gaming industry seemed pretty respectful of one another too, which is really Cool`

At the end of most of these patent submittals, there is a “declaration area” listing out the technologies they were based on and some

98% of them have one. Likely this also had to do with the fact that so many of these guys were moving around from company-to-company and

building upon a pretty solid foundation of gaming technology. Everything I see tells me that the “Windy City’s” gaming-community was

pretty closely-knit. Also in general, I think there was a much greater work ethic back in 40s, 50s, and 60s then we see today.

~ Having a lawyer sitting next to you was probably the kicker too - laugh - Honesty and all that! ~

For Example: The ball-lift movement in the Bally’s was in-effect borrowed:
