Bingo Pinballs

_ Bally Continental KDU _

OK, I don’t even know what to say here`…This is a complete Mess

Back in 2005, I was talking to Oliver about building a KDU (program box) for one of the Bingo

Here is what I have`…Oliver never mentions if his device works`..and it doesn’t look like I asked`

Hi Danny,

I have the manual; this unit is used for the self test functions. I analyze the existing schematic and made a try. In the schematic you see the strobe and return lines. The KDU units is quite similar to a bally 6803 keypad, I scanned almost the entire manual. Do you want it?

Greetings Oliver

This is the picture of the KDU out of the Bally manual and I do not think anyone actually has one`

Oliver wrote in to share that we tried to build one from scratch`…Now this is very Cool

16 * 1n4004
16 * pushbuttons
7 * 430 ohm resistor
3 * 7 segment-Led (HDSP-5503)
I first used 4 HDSP-5503, but the bally kdu has only 3.

Here is the wiring:

Connector

Pin 1 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 7

Pin 2 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 6

Pin 3 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 4

Pin 4 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 2

Pin 5 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 1

Pin 6 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 9

Pin 7 -> 430 ohm -> Segment (1-3) pin 10

Pin 20 ->           Segment 3 (rightmost)     pin 8, 3

Pin 13 ->           Segment 2 (middle)         pin 8, 3

Pin 14 ->           Segment 1 (leftmost)       pin 8, 3

Connector

Pin 11    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  17

Pin 10    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  17

Pin 9      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  17

Pin 8      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  17

keys: Game,clr/test,0,enter

Pin 11    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  12

Pin 10    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  12

Pin 9      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  12

Pin 8      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  12

keys: a,1,2,3

Pin 11    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  19

Pin 10    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  19

Pin 9      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  19

Pin 8      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  19

keys: b,4,5,6

Pin 11    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  18

Pin 10    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  18

Pin 9      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  18

Pin 8      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  18

keys: c,7,8,9

Pin 11    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  16

Pin 10    ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  16

Pin 9      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  16

Pin 8      ----4004>¦---Switch-  Pin  16

keys: d,e,f,  (I didn't connect this keys, because the bingo doesn't need them).

So, why does Oliver callout (2) connectors...?

In my original post for this I mention that I might have had a schematic`…I still cannot locate it`…I think it might be zipped1

_ Now, I also posted this picture with the detail from Oliver`…Why is anyone’s Guess _

What is Cool here is that this looks to be a Controller that is used to “add games” to the Bingo

The same concept of Tel. In and Tel. Out that the Belgium boys have for nearly all of their early machines`

So, none of the machines here in America were this advanced, the bars, taverns, and clubs weren’t wired for this`

Clearly Bally designed this contraption for the “offshore markets” -or- singular-market - Belgium..?

_ Here is stuff from my archives I don’t think I ever posted _

(pages 11=19, 30, 33, 35, and 36 (key) for schematic details) – It looks like the KDU programs by pulling line “low” to the “return” – To “ground” potential)

Now here is a picture of the Bally controller and a possible connection`
