Please help me develop a “Board Matrix” of the Solid State Bingos

(Also please help provide any documentation, manuals and schematics, that you can for these Bingos)

As we all know: Schematics and Manuals for the solid-state bingos are difficult to find _ In fact they seem to be almost non-existent. My purpose for this page is to list the machines we are seeing people need help with and as much detail as we can about them. The goal is to identify the pcbs and see if we can get any of the missing documentation from the bingo community. The hope is that some of the machines are similar. If so, even if we can only find a few of the documents, as least some folks might be able to work on their bingos

TSCC Continental Magic (An early Sirmo bingo from the Dead Years?)

Ari Sovijärvi recently wrote to me and asked if I could help him get a set of schematics for the TSCC he just received and I explained to him Gerald’s comments on “how rare the documents are for these games” (best we know as of this date they are non-existent) and to help us cross-reference the boards, I asked for a little more detail:

“I added the machine to IPDB and uploaded some pictures there. http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=5658

”I noticed there are several GAA games with the exact same playfield, or at least one very close to this.”

”The game had one ROM, labeled "MIN XX1 7015".”

”I also found these numbers in PCBs: TSCC 86 12 01-1, TSCC 91 03 20, TSCC 86 12 03”

”Attached you'll find couple of pictures of the CPU board. When I got the machine and tried turning it on, it sounded like a fire alarm!”

”Here's a video. I speak finnish, but there's closed captions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GdTmmy1prU

”I've been restoring pinball machines for the past 11 years now, so first I looked for the old adversary - leaking batteries. I found a 3.6V battery on the CPU board and replaced it with a battery holder with 3 AA batteries and a diode. After that the machine booted further and went through some kind of an initialization. Saw lots of numbers that looked like memory addresses and their content. After that the game halted, saying "E200". This time however the operator buttons worked. One switch switched between what seemed like attraction mode and audits menu. I could move in the menu and reset the audits, but couldn't figure out how to properly reset this thing. With the operator switch set to attraction mode, I can select a memory address with the buttons 1 to 4. The game uses one row of lights to display 8 bits at a time. What this information is, I have no clue. The game seems to be in its senses - for example the ball lift homes during the reboot, but it just won't enter attraction mode.”

”I know many American slot machines need special "clear" and "set"-roms for the RAM initialization, I wonder if something like that would also be needed in this case? Then again if there are some initialization step to be taken, maybe a GAA game manual would shed some light on this.”

Bally Continental (Other than the IGT Dixieland’s, this is the only other solid-state state bingo we know that was designed in America?)

Phil’s Comment: A solid state version of Dixieland, and supposedly only shipped to Belgium. It may have been produced under contract to General Automatic Amusements, who continued to make at least three more bingo's using the Bally design.

Mr. Steve Kaufman was lucky enough to get this bingo posted on ebay, late 2010, and is currently working to restore it:

“Thanks for replying, I am going to get pics of everything, and send to you, today, but things I’ve noticed are it looks to have a input for the keybrd under playfield in front, and has a remote receiver in back, firmware on chips says super six cards, no manufacturer, and two sets of 8 dipswitches, I did play with them till award 50 credits/token now, theirs a few other things odd, but hopefully well discuss later, the machine does seem to be close clone of a Bally. The battery on mpu needs replaced soon, I don’t know if that’s a possibility but everything plays fine now just doesn’t register any wins. I had to solder a connector and fix a few bent switches, but this machine was well taken care of.  Oh, Euro Continental is the closest thing I’ve found to it, but a few differences.  Anyway thanks for replying your welcome to call. Thanks again. Steve”

“I’ve been using a schematic from euro continental, the wiring and mpu displays - etc seem to be the same as Euro Continental, but dipswitches are def different.”

I’ll write Steve and ask him to confirm why he references “Euro Continental” in his emails _ The schematics he points to are Phil’s Bally Continental???

Looking at the backglass, it definitely screams Bally Continental _ I have this listed as a Sirmo due to the artwork of the playfield and it is European-made, but am I correct? As I have lloked at the earlier bingos, I have noticed that G.A.A’s bingos all had the custom wood cabinets and that Sirmo released a few Bally-style cabinet’s, so I also leaned toward Sirmo.

Sirmo Louisiana (Ben owns one of the 1984’s and is using the French-version Manual to work on it)

I’ll make sure the Louisiana is posted on my site and send Phil a copy for his. It appears to follow the same format as the Miss Americana Manual that is also in French _ If anyone can help translate these to English for us, we would really appreciate it.

Last year I found this additional reference to the Louisiana Manual: “I have a couple of New Orleans games, one that doesn't power up and one that boots but doesn't seem to play. I managed to contact someone at Sirmo in Belgium who tried to help me out.  They didn't have any info on New Orleans, but he scanned the service manual for Louisiana for me and sent me a pdf.  He said these used the same board set.”
