Easier-to-build, more dependable, quicker circuits, offering more room in the bingos to stuff in features. These guys were looking toward the future. In all of the patent research I have been doing the name Frank Nicolas keeps popping up. It looks like Ray had at least one guy in place just to reengineer the electro-mechanicals, to make this easier to manufacturing and pull cost out where he could. I see he spun a few of Don’s modules. With Ray being an engineer himself, likely he was involved with the design teams a bit more than his successors and was driving improvement into the technology where he deemed appropriate.
