The
“operators notebook” Keith purchased has 8 main folders and #7
kind of points out what all the documents have in common _ Which seems to
be that at some point in time California needed to convert all of their
games to “one coin” operation.
It’s not
clearly spelled out, but it looks like the “California” bingos
were made at this same time.
What is clear,
is that most of the games were United Bingos. Most of the notes pertain to
Rios, Tropics, Showboats, Tahitis, Manhattans, and Pixies – Only two
Ballys are even mentioned in the mix; Atlantic and Beach Club.
What is most
interesting about that, is that Beach Club is the only bingo were they specifically
mention that one
purpose of the
mod, is to “cut down odds”
For nearly all
of the United bingos the instructions (which include verbiage and schematic
detail) they speak of “extra ball during free games” and
“can save free games” along with the reference to making the
bingo “one coin” operation.
The Atlantic
references are very few in number and half of them are tied to the
“California”
A couple notes
mark that the changes were to quarter and dime operation, which helps a
little guessing at the timeframe involved.
Folder #7
gives us a few more names of who was involved, some United Reflex operation
and capability detail, and shows that there may have been the need for
owner/operators to verify the age of the customers playing their bingo
– Check out the “proof of age” card.
A good portion
of the notes were scribbled on the back of those cards – laugh!
These first
two attachments, verify that “part of the focus was the need to keep
the machines attractive to the players” as I suspected looking at the
schematic changes being made.
If you’d
like to see all of the documents, please let me know and I will copy the
disk Keith sent to me and send it to you. There are way too many to post
and they are way oversized and in the wrong format for me to easily post.
Maybe one day I will, but for now here is a sample
