All through the 1970s, Bally was making a huge effort to establish a business presence for the Bingos in Japan

Sometime around 1976 they even established a local joint-venture hoping that would ensure their success`

Completing this essential step opened a few doors for Bally that would of stayed close forever`

I do not pretend to know the whole story, but if you read through my webpages on Japan you will get plenty of detail`

Bally Services would create some interest and opportunity, but unfortunately they waited way-too-long to get this going`

The interest in pinballs would quickly whine down in Japan in the late 70s with the advent of the “new cool” video games

emerging - In hindsight, it was inevitable with Japan taking the technical lead in that evolution`

In their push, Bally was placing older Mystic Line and Magic Screen games in the local arcades and gaining some

interest, while naturally trying to sell some of the late model games`…to create a new market`

The Wall Street machines, Dixieland and Nashville - etc`

One opportunity that did arise was with the company Daishin Bussan, who offered a modification for the Dixieland machines being sold locally`

Why the guys at Bally never brought this to America and the machine-sales here, we’ll never know`

Management at Bally seemed to be their own worst enemy in Japan. Stuck in their ways and as such, so conventional

that they were constantly stifling and missing most opportunities. Even after attending Expo-after-Expo and practically

living in Tokyo, they simply failed to read the trends and understand the Market`…they simply never adapted`

Too bad too`

…Who knows what Cool technology we missed`
